Compared to Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, Chelsea’s upcoming four games
Graham Potter appears to have had difficulty winning over Chelsea supporters since they are famously difficult to win over after they have turned against their manager. Whatever confidence the Blues may have had after their previous Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund was dashed by their recent 1-0 home loss to Southampton. In their last 15 games, Potter’s club has only been able to claim three victories.
Despite playing two of the bottom three teams recently, the team has only managed one victory so far in 2023, which came against Bournemouth in seventeenth place. This current state of affairs is worrying.
Reece James and Thiago Silva were rested, but it didn’t appear to have a positive effect on the team’s performance as they battled to keep any kind of structure or control during the opening 45 minutes of the game. Even if the second half was an improvement, the team’s scoring problems persisted; they haven’t scored in four of their last five games.
The forthcoming home game against Dortmund is the team’s last chance to save the season, with all likelihood of finishing in the top four being all but gone. This gives Potter little over two weeks to get the team ready for this important game, which could end up being a turning point in his career.
